Dizziness & Vertigo
Disorders of the inner or middle ear may cause dizziness, imbalance, or vertigo (spinning sensation). A diagnosis is made after a careful history is taken and examination performed, which may include specialized testing.
What is Vertigo?
Vertigo is a form of dizziness, with the sensation of movement, usually described as a spinning sensation.
The Causes of Vertigo
Vertigo is caused by a viral infection of the inner ear, displacement of crystals in the inner ear, or other, less common causes.
How is Dizziness / Vertigo treated?
Treatment may include medication, head positioning maneuvers (Epley) performed in the office in order to re-position crystals in the inner ear, or physical therapy.
